Supplemental Funds for Child Care Disaster Recovery – Hurricane Ian – PROVIDER SURVEY TO DETERMINE ELIGIBILITY FOR FUNDS

On September 28, 2022, Henry McMaster declared a state of emergency as a result of Hurricane Ian. On November 21, 2022, President Joseph R. Biden, Jr. authorized a major disaster declaration and ordered Federal aid to supplement State and local recovery efforts in the areas affected by Hurricane Ian. FEMA identified eight (8) counties as qualifying for federal disaster assistance.

Proposed Regulations for Licensed Child Care Centers

The Department of Social Services is proposing to amend South Carolina Code of Regulations 114-500 to 114-509 to establish and maintain standards for licensed child care centers that are reasonably aligned with recommended standards of national organizations and which further the Department’s mission to establish and maintain standards that protect the health, safety, and well-being of children receiving care in licensed child care centers.
